To serve the needs of students seeking teaching licensure in preschool through sixth grade, also known as elementary education (PK-6). To enable students to meet Virginia requirements for licensure to teach language arts, science, mathematics, and history and social sciences in the elementary and middle schools. To provide students with a foundational program of study in language arts, science, mathematics, history, and social sciences focused on interdisciplinary and integrative learning. To enable students to meet the goals and expectations of advanced coursework in graduate and professional schools. To provide a degree appropriate for a person seeking a master's in education or in another area of master's level work.
