Study of the Atlantic world from the late fifteenth century to the end of the eighteenth century and the early decades of the nineteenth century with special emphasis on the idea of global citizenship; evolution of Atlantic history and the transoceanic connections and exchanges that led to the emergence of an Atlantic civilization and global citizenship in the early modern period up to the present day; international and transnational institutions, policies, cultural practices, and ethical considerations.
